THE PROBLEM

Unresponsive website with outdated content and design. Company is also shifting from a distributorship to a custom medical device manufacturer.

THE SOLUTION

Develop a user-friendly informational website on the company’s services and capabilities to build user confidence in Clinimed as a custom manufacturer.

GOALS

  • Revamp website and brand with a contemporary design

  • Develop branding based on company values and core message

  • Develop information architecture and features based on research and customer feedback

  • Redesign UI based on research and usability testing

  • Create a lead-generating responsive website for desktop, tablet, and mobile

RESEARCH

GOALS

  • Identify product demand

  • Identify target market

  • Identify areas of user interest and needs in a custom medical device manufacturing website

  • Identify user pain points using a custom medical device manufacturing website

  • Identify current online trends in custom medical device manufacturing companies

SECONDARY RESEARCH

  • Direct competitors have generic informational websites informing the user their capabilities and the services they provide.

  • Machine shops encourage users to start a project through the website.

  • Most sites have a lot of content which is hard to follow.

  • Some sites have complicated and lengthy navigation and user paths.

PRIMARY RESEARCH

  • Stakeholder Interviews:  1-on-1 interviews conducted in-person & via Skype with participants to gather information on the industry and experience.

FINDINGS

  • Most sites are generic and unappealing for users and have unnecessary content.

  • Most users have trouble finding reliable vendors.

  • Information on capabilities and services are most important for a user.

  • Tracking orders and having live status updates are important features.

  • Ability to start a project through the website is important for user

Usabiliting Test Participant

USABILITY TEST

I used a combination of Invision and Skype to conduct remote usability testing.

FINDINGS

  • The average total success rate is 67%.

  • Navigation and Sub-Navigation tasks was 100% successful.

  • Finding dropdown button saw a 100% failure both times.

  • Downloading an asset had a failure rate of 100%.

AFFINITY MAP

During my testing, I compiled important findings into an affinity map and found several areas that needed improvement. Some insights from the usability testing are:

FINDINGS

  • Contact Us needs to be more visible.

  • Have more content about the company and its services.

  • Add quick links to footer.

  • Describe how company is “Experienced,” “Reliable,” and “Stress-Free.”

  • Make a clear distinction between Services & Capabilities sections/links.

SECOND ITERATION

Utilizing the insight from my usability testing and affinity maps, I reiterated my mockup and added new screens, refined my UI, and improved on my user experience.

SUMMARY

In a short timeline I was able to redesign the Clinimed website to a modern and clean website that will helps users learn about the company and develop a relationship with Clinimed.
